Codename: ABS (simpler than Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene). Special characteristic: not susceptible to scrapes, small blows or corrosion. The idea: create a body out of thermoformed plastic.
And so the Méhari is born– the first French production vehicle with a body made up wholly by this through-coloured plastic. Easy to maintain, entirely spray washable (even inside), this easy-to-live-with plastic destines the 2- or 4-seat pick-up for recreation. But its accessible loading platform, which can be covered or uncovered at will, also makes it a useful, economical car for all occasions.
A dual role, which ensures its success from 1968 to 1987, as well as for its many variations for international markets.
